What is CS-Cart (history, features, editions)
CS-Cart, an E-commerce shopping cart software, was created by Simbirsk Technologies Ltd. CS-Cart represents a detached web application created for building and managing an E-commerce website of any size from a small online shop to a big virtual shopping mall with lots of different departments and product suppliers.

A little history of CS-Cart
On August 1st, 2005 CS-cart has launched the demo version of the first product – CS-Cart version 1.3.0. Thereafter CS-Cart version 1.3.2, version1.3.3, version 1.3.4 and version 1.3.5 were released. Each of them improving the engine step by step and turning into what it is now.
Fundamentally new level of CS-Cart development was achieved in November 25th, 2008 when CS-Cart 2.0 was released. This version provided an unmatched level of flexibility and freedom of total control and became a remarkable step forward in the field of E-commerce software solutions.
A variety of important changes and improvements were done, however the turning point was integration of hooks that allowed to create completely independent add-ons without changing web store core files as well as the JQuery library integration that allowed active usage of Ajax technology.
Technical features
CS-Cart – it’s a multi-functional script of the store, developed with PHP program language and data bases managing system MySQL.
Under CS-Cart development there were also used:

General features

Administration panel
CS-Cart is distinguished by its Blocks Management which allows a designer of the site and/or ad-dons to create and move any blocks of content, to set certain blocks on specific product or category pages – all this is possible without understanding PHP, as an editor is built into the Administration area.
Affiliates system
Engine also has built-in affiliate system which gives an opportunity to advertise your products on other web sites without using any third-party software and to set a mutually beneficial partnership with affiliates.
CS-Cart editions
CS-Cart software product is represented by three different editions.

CS-Cart Professional is an E-commerce shopping cart solution for small and medium-size businesses at an affordable price. Plenty of advanced features are available with it to get the most out of your online store. (Discontinued in 2013).

CS-Cart Ultimate is an advanced edition of CS-Cart that allows you to set up and manage multiple online stores via a single common administrator panel. (Renamed as CS-Cart in 2013 and offered with one storefront or more for an additional charge).

CS-Cart Multi-Vendor is an advanced edition of CS-Cart allowing to create an common online marketplace where lots of different vendors can manage sales of their products. (Renamed as Multi-Vendor in 2013).
CS-Cart reseller program
CS-Cart Reseller program launched in 2008 allows companies and individuals to supply design or programming services to provide their customers with this E-commerce software.
Resellers are offered measurable discounts on all products depending on the amount of licenses they buy. Moreover they get one free CS-Cart license to run a demo store or build a site.
