CS-Cart "Shop by Brands" add-on allows you to create A-Z block on any website page and gives shoppers a possibility to shop by Brands available in a store. This add-on uses the Manufacturer product feature created in the admin back-end.

Features for CS-Cart v.2.2.x and v.3.0.x:
- Ability to choose whether to display only letters (A-Z) or both letters and numbers (A-Z, 0-9) in the Shop by Brands block with links to the brands.
- Automatic generation of brand lists.
- You click on a brand (for example, Samsung) and see all products of this brand.
- A setting to display a brand name and logo or just a brand name on a product details page and in a product grid and list. After clicking a brand you will be redirected to the brand page where all products of this brand are shown.
- A setting to display brand letters in a block - you can display all letters (A-Z), all letters (A-Z) but inactive/unused letters will not be clickable or you can display only active letters. For example, if you have products by brands started with A, C, G, N, M, only these letters will be displayed in a block.
- Ability to choose or enter your own alphabet.
- Brands on a page "All Brands started with X" can be displayed horizontally or vertically.
Compatibility:
- This add-on works correctly in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and Opera latest browser versions.
- The add-on is currently compatible with CS-Cart Pro 2.2.x and CS-Cart Pro/Ultimate 3.0.x. versions.
- The add-on is compatible with CS-Cart v.4.0.x - 4.1.x.- 4.3.x.

How to set up the Shop by Brands add-on after the installation?
In the administration panel go to
Administration → Add-ons → choose Shop by Brands → click manage (CS-Cart v.3.0.x)
or
Add-ons -> Manage add-ons -> Shop by Brands -> click settings (CS-Cart v.4).
You will see the following settings.
General tab:
Features - choose the necessary Feature from the select box (usually it is Manufacturer or Brand) which will be applied to this add-on. Create the Manufacturer feature first if it's not created.
Display brand logo - check this checkbox to display a brand logo next to a brand name.
Display brands vertically - check this checkbox to display brands vertically on a page "All Brands starting with X". Don't check this checkbox and brands will be displayed horizontally. It is a useful setting if there are several brands starting with the same letter.
Choose your alphabet - choose EN for English, RU for Russian or choose Enter your alphabet and fill out a field below.
Other alphabet - type in your alphabet in this field separating letters by a comma.

Please notice! In CS-Cart v.4.2.1. there is an ability to split brands into columns.
To do this action, you should go to add-on settings in the admin panel, find there Display brands vertically / splitted for columns and define the number of wanted columns.
Display method tab:
Letters display method in a block - choose the necessary display method for a block from a selectbox:
- Display all letters - the whole alphabet (A-Z) will be displayed in a block in the storefront;
- Display not active - the whole alphabet (A-Z) will be displayed but not active letters (it means there are no brands starting with such letters) will be not clickable.
- Hide not active - only active letters (it means there are brands starting with such letters) will be displayed in the storefront.
Brands display method on product details page - choose the necessary display method for product details pages from a selectbox:
- Display brand name and logo - choose this setting to display both a brand logo and name on product details pages.
- Display only brand name - choose this setting to display only a brand name on product details pages.
- Not display - choose this setting and nothing (neither a brand name nor a logo) will be displayed on product details pages.
Brand display method on category page - choose the necessary display method for a category page from a selectbox:
- Display brand name and logo - choose this setting to display both a brand logo and name on category pages (in a product list and grid).
- Display only brand name - choose this setting to display only a brand name on category pages (in a product list and grid).
- Not display - choose this setting and nothing (neither a brand name nor a logo) will be displayed on category pages (in a product list and grid).
Please notice! More settings are added for CS-Cart v.4.
Extra settings for CS-Cart v.4 allow you to set the display method of brands in the top menu drop-down.
How to create a "Manufacturer/Brand" feature?
It is necessary to create a "Manufacturer" feature to use the Shop by Brands add-on.
It is a default CS-Cart functionality.
- In the administration panel go to Products -> Product features -> Add the feature "Manufacturer".
- Fill out the necessary form.
Choose Type - Extended (it is a necessary condition).
- On the feature editing page in the Variants tab enter the names of your Brands and upload an image (logo) for each Brand.
- Save.
After creating the feature "Manufacturer", don't forget to choose the necessary manufacturer to your products.
How to create the Shop by Brands block?
1. Design → Blocks/Layouts → choose the necessary location -> choose the necessary Grid and add the block into it → click the Create New Block tab → choose "Shop by Brands".
2. In the General tab enter the name for the Shop by Brands block.
3. For CS-Cart v.3.0.x.
In the Block settings tab you will see two checkboxes:

Display Characters - tick it and only letters will be displayed on the website (A-Z);

Display Numbers - tick it and only numbers will be displayed on the website;

If you want to display both letters and numbers click both checkboxes.
In CS-Cart v.4 you can find this setting in Add-ons -> Manage add-ons -> Shop by brands -> settings (Display symbols and numbers brands link).
4. Shop by Brands block will be displayed on a chosen location page.
Installation instruction
1. Download the archive with the Shop by Brands add-on.
2. Unpack the archive's content and upload files to your server in the root directory with the installed CS-Cart.
3. Log into the administration panel of your store, go to the Administration -> Add-ons (CS-Cart 3) or Add-ons -> Manage add-ons (CS-Cart 4).
4. In the list of add-ons find the Shop by Brands (CS-Cart 3) or Alt-team: Shop by Brands>(CS-Cart 4) add-on and click Install opposite to its name.
5. That's all, the add-on is installed. Choose Active status.
